WatchHouse opens on London’s riverside with new House at Millennium Bridge

Thursday 26 February, London - WatchHouse celebrates the opening of its new Millennium Bridge House. Marking its first opening of 2026, the new location brings WatchHouse’s Modern Coffee philosophy to the new riverside location in the heart of the city, set between St Paul’s Cathedral and the Tate Modern on the North Bank of the River Thames.
Renowned for serving world-class coffee in design-led spaces, WatchHouse’s new opening situates it among London’s most recognised cultural landmarks. Spanning 2050sqft with 60 covers, the House offers an intimate sanctuary for the thousands of daily visitors to Millennium Bridge, serving an expertly curated selection of specialty coffees and Rarities, alongside breakfast, bakery and viennoiserie options, amidst sweeping views of London’s iconic skyline.
Designed by CAKE Architecture, the new House draws influence from the historic and modern architectural feats that tower above, yet balanced by the ever-changing presence of water and light on the Thames, as captured in Claude Monet’s painting Waterloo Bridge, effet de brume (1904). This interplay of permanence and transience informs a palette and spatial language that is both emotive and playful. Distilling the surrounding landscape through a blend of materials, textures and forms, the House pays tribute to the rhythmic atmosphere of the river and city outside.

With an ornate-meets-industrial design, on entry guests are met by a striking dropped ceiling with a carved void, paying homage to the baroque geometry of St Paul’s famed dome. Lined with warm timber and inset with a hand-finished aluminium panel, the ceiling diffuses light from the sculptural, monolithic espresso counter - a nod to the industrial Tate Modern and the river’s infrastructure - that stands beside a specially-designed Rarities Bar with counter seating for one-on-one coffee explorations with WatchHouse’s expert baristas.
Throughout the interiors, a patchwork of materials, forms, colour and light create varied spatial experiences. Warm cherry veneer panels, buttery timber elements and a two-tone polished concrete floor are accented by three metal finishes: brushed aluminium, brushed steel and stainless steel. Furniture, shelving and counters feature a hand-applied back-painting technique that continuously reflects and softly diffuses iridescent light across the open-plan floor, subtly evolving throughout the day to create an ever-changing atmosphere.
Guests can choose from low-level bench seating with cityscape views at expansive windows or enclosed booths, while a quieter, discoverable space offers an area of retreat for longer stays, focussed work or quiet reading.

WatchHouse’s latest opening at Millennium Bridge, a new prominent waterfront destination between the City and South Bank, marks its first of 2026 and the continued growth of the brand as it reaches 25 Houses worldwide. This new House inaugurates the beginning of a milestone year for the brand, with further openings and news to be announced in the coming months.
